Smartphone applications (commonly known simply as ?apps?) are all the rage these days. With the constant technological advancement of the iPhone and Android phones, new start-up companies have sprung up that just focus on apps, and in many cases they get even more specific than that, and focus on apps for specific niches. One such niche is personal finance and budgeting. Money is tight these days, and because of that there are numerous apps available on Smartphones (like iPhones and Androids) that help people keep track of their personal finances and helps them draft their own customized budget according to their income and expenses.

The benefits of these finance apps are numerous. For one thing, you have your phone with you at all times, and thus have a reminder of your budget at all times. This can help you stay honest to your budget and not stray from it. The convenience factor also plays a large role in your ability to meet and keep a personal budget.

iReconcile

iReconcile is one of the most popular personal finance apps available on the iPhone. This cellphone app is essentially an all-in-one personal finance accountant. It is like having a bank or a personal finance advisor at your fingertips 24/7. Among its many features are a built-in check register, charts and graphs that will break down your monthly expenses with a few clicks of the button and a back-up service, which allows you to download the information contained in the app onto your personal computer at home. The budget tracker in particular is quite impressive. It can break down your personal budget and track the money you spent in various categories (food, entertainment, debt, etc.) The budget tracker tool will project your spending habits into the future (monthly and yearly) and can even give you a rough estimate of your spending habits on a daily basis. All in all, it is a quick and easy tool to have on a phone and only costs $2.99 to download and $1.99 a month to use!

Expenditure

This app is somewhat similar to iReconcile, but is more focused on budget tracking via determining how much money you should spend on certain things. The allure of Expenditure is how easy it is to use. It doesn?t have all the graphic bells and whistles that others have, so it makes it much easier to navigate. This app stands out because it offers you a chance to document your purchases with a photo and a personalized note about the purchase, which can come in handy for any number of purposes. Expenditure is $1.99 a month.

Moneybook

Moneybook probably boasts more features than any other budgeting/ finance app. The style of the app is very basic and simple, but there are tons of features hidden underneath all of that. There are no graphs, but there are password protections for purchases you don?t want other to have access to. The Moneybook app costs $2.99.
