Go to College for Free (or at Least for Very Low Cost) [Saving Money]

Go to College for Free (or at Least for Very Low Cost)There's no doubt about it: College is expensive. Yet, a college degree can make a significant difference in how much you earn in your lifetime. There are a few ways to that degree without having to fork over $40,000 a year.

Luke Landes offers a few suggestions on the Consumerism Commentary blog. Basically, consider college types that are tuition-free or are generous with grants. These include military service academies (you'll typically have to enlist in military service, though) and specialized tuition-free schools like Cooper Union in NYC (for architecture and engineering).

Don't count Ivy League schools out either. Although they might have the most expensive tuitions, most of them offer grants, making them possibly less expensive than public schools.
