Should I Put A Pic of My Little Boys On My Website?

Ok so basically I was thinking of putting a picture of my 2 little boys (aged 4 & 3 >names removed by Mod> on the about us page of my website. www.jetvirtual.co.uk

This could go either way in my opinion. On the one hand I like to do business with people I can connect with easier. On the other hand it may come across as unprofessional?

Your thoughts please

No, due to what you do... I wouldn't add pictures unless your business was you, but your website is set up as "us" rather than "me"

So if you were a book keeper, working from home, I would consider adding the images, but as a call answering service, I wouldn't.

For me it would be a no.

I like to draw a clear line between work and home and for me, although it would show a family man is running the business, it would detract (IMHO) from my business message.

Hope it is Ok but I removed their names from your post and will explain why

I was about to say, if you do use an image of them, on no account name them, and this is for child protection reasons. I am involved with kids sport at a decent level and this is one of the key concerns. Posting images of a family is one thing, but naming them is another. you should not do both if possible as there are some sicko's out there.

Anyhow, I see no problem with using an image of them, I am a firm believer that your website should reflect your personality.

Find out what school they go to, what sports clubs they are associated with, use facial recognition software to find them (facebook and Picassa both have this, although FB has pulled theirs as a result of some unsavoury stuff).

have a read of this to see just how predatory things are online. http://www.iwf.org.uk/about-iwf/news...ploaded-online

Which is why it astounds me that the local papers STILL print the full name and age of a child underneath their picture on the front page of the weekly. They even state which school they come from

I'd not bother linking anyone else with the business unless they're working for you. It's pointless. If i'm looking for services i'm not even bothered if all your staff look like Gandalf, as long as you do a good job at a good price.

It is something I am considering myself(although to put on Christmas cards for clients). Still undecided whether it would be right for me to do so. For the very reasons OWG states I wont allow any pictures of my son to be put on facebook. Once that picture is in the public domain there is no control over it, any old pedo can get their grubby hands on it. The only reason I am considering it for my xmas cards is because they will be sent to a limited number of people and not in electronic form.

I think in principle there is nothing wrong with it, so long as it is a true representation of your business - that it is a family run business or you are offering a very personalised service. It's what other people do with the images that worries me.

I wouldn't not if they were under 18 and didn't give their permission.

Don't you have a pet ? I would think that would ok. Nice picture of a Rabit eating pay slips or a profit & loss sheet

I'm just testing the water here.

I wouldn't be overly concerned with putting a picture of them on the website, child molesters don't typically choose victims from random photographs off the internet. I don't think it would come across as professional though.
